The rights of a Christian

There is no hint in the New Testament that a Christian has rights such as those the people of the world expend so much effort in demanding. Jesus told us not to expect those kind of rights:
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 15:19
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. Luke 21:12
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. Luke 21:17

Jesus even went so far as to say that persecution is a blessing:
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matthew 5:11

The Apostle Paul experienced persecutions as a blessing:
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:9
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10

There is one thing to which a follower of Jesus has a right; that promise is found almost at the end of the New Testament:
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
