There is an election in the USA today, and judging by the attention given to it by media around the world, it would seem that no matter who wins half the world will see it as the end of civilization as we know it.

Let’s take a deep breath, stop fretfully checking the news, and try to get a grasp on reality. Jesus said “Ye are the light of the world.” How can we be a light to others if we live in dread that the sky is about to fall?

“It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” Those words have been attributed to many people, but William Watkinson said them first in a sermon in 1907. Could it be that the reason there is so much darkness in our world today is that Christians are not lighting enough candles?
