The phone rang this morning and when I answered a voice said:
“Hello. I am from your credit card company and based upon your excellent credit and payment history we would like to offer you a 10% rebate.”
By that time red lights were flashing and warning buzzers were sounding in my head. I hung up.
A legitimate caller would have asked, “May I speak with Mr. Bob Goodnough.” This guy didn’t know my name.
A legitimate caller would have identified which bank he was calling from and would have known the number of my credit card. This guy was hoping I would give him that information.
This was a phishing call, an attempt to get me to reveal details about one of my credit cards so he could siphon money from it. His intention was to take money from me, not give money back to me.
Please, don’t anyone who reads this blog fall for that kind of scam phone call.

Thanks for the warning
